Seattle : 3 organizations working together to address the needs and economic opportunities in the MLK Business Districts.

MLK Business Association Board Chair: Julie Pham

As Board Chair, Dr Julie Pham implemented strategies to support the small businesses on the Martin Luther King Jr. Way South impacted by the Light Rail construction. Julie is also managing editor of Nguoi Viet Tay Bac – the Northwest Vietnamese News. She founded Sea Beez, a capacity-building program for local ethnic media. As the PR/Marketing chair for Seattle’s NAAAP which led the organization’s PR/Marketing program to a first place finish in NAAAP National Convention. Dr Julie Pham was named on the “40 under 40” business leaders list by Puget Sound Business Journal in 2011and voted as an innovator in Verizon Wireless Asian Pacific American Heritage Community Roast Awards.

Banner Cross President: Skip Rowland

Dr. Roland has over 35 years of experience assisting businesses in developing increased profits. He worked with the downtown Chamber of Commerce, formally known as the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce, the Seattle City Council, MLK Business Association and other ethnic chambers of commerce throughout the Greater Seattle business region.

Dr. Rowland has partnered with MLK Business Association to identify ways of improving visibility and profits for businesses along the MLK corridor. His extensive knowledge in business management, education and multicultural studies will aid in identifying potential opportunities for the Association to assist business owners in increasing its customer base.

Rainier Valley Community Development Fund Business Coach: Jennifer Tam

Jennifer Tam is a business case manager at the Rainier Valley Community Development Fund, a non-profit organization that provides affordable alternatives to traditional bank loans for businesses and commercials real estate development in the Rainier Valley.

MLK Business Association, Banner Cross and Rainier Valley Community Development Fund are working together to address the needs and economic opportunities in the MLK Business Districts. The final report will be made available to the public upon completion.
